PurrfectlyFold: Ensuring Healthy, Ethical, and Happy Scottish Fold Kittens

At PurrfectlyFold, we take immense pride in breeding high-quality Scottish Fold kittens, ensuring that every kitten raised is healthy, well-socialized, and ready to become a cherished member of your family. As a family cattery, we believe in nurturing our kittens in a loving environment, which is reflected in our commitment to responsible breeding and cat care. Our carefully structured guarantees and health assurances underscore our dedication to producing healthy kittens that thrive in their new homes. Here’s why PurrfectlyFold is the ideal choice for your next kitten:

The Genetic Risks with Unethical Breeders: Osteochondrodysplasia (OCD)

Scottish Fold cats are beloved for their unique, folded ears, but the gene responsible—the Fd gene—comes with potential risks. When improperly managed, particularly by breeders who lack genetic knowledge or ethical practices, this gene can lead to Osteochondrodysplasia (OCD), a painful disorder affecting cartilage and bone development. OCD often causes joint malformations, leading to arthritis and mobility issues early in life.

To reduce these risks, responsible breeding and thorough genetic screening are essential. Unfortunately, some backyard or uneducated breeders neglect this, unknowingly perpetuating the risk of this debilitating condition. At PurrfectlyFold, we prioritize health by performing comprehensive DNA testing on all our breeding cats through Optimal Selection, ensuring that only healthy genes are passed down. This dedication helps us offer kittens that are not only charming but also healthy, allowing them to thrive as beloved family members for years to come.

Responsible Spaying and Neutering: Preventing Irresponsible Breeding

We believe that responsible breeding doesn't stop once a kitten leaves our cattery. To prevent irresponsible breeding and the spread of genetic issues like OCD, we spay and neuter all our kittens before they go to their new homes. This policy ensures that our kittens won’t be used for breeding by individuals who may not follow ethical practices or register their cats with TICA.

Following TICA Guidelines: Supporting the Breed’s Future

At PurrfectlyFold, we are deeply committed to the future of Scottish Folds. This means following the guidelines set by TICA, including supporting any rules that require DNA testing and seminars for breeders. We believe these standards are essential to preserving the breed’s integrity, ensuring that the cats being bred are healthy and free from genetic defects.

Health and Vaccination Protocol

Every kitten receives two rounds of FVRCP vaccinations and deworming treatments before they are transferred to you. We ensure the kitten is healthy at the time of sale, and we highly encourage new owners to take their kitten to a vet for a health check within 48 hours of ownership. This proactive step establishes a health care routine for your kitten, ensuring they start their new life in the best possible condition.

FIP Awareness and Health Disclaimer

FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) is a serious and complex condition. Although we guarantee that our kittens leave us in good health and show no signs of FIP, we cannot guarantee against this disease beyond 72 hours. We take every measure to ensure our kittens are healthy, but the unpredictable nature of FIP means we cannot assume responsibility for cases that develop post-sale.

Feline Leukemia Testing

We ensure that our breeding cats are free of FeLV and other diseases before they enter our program, prioritizing the health of future generations. Furthermore, we prioritize the health and safety of our cats: none of our cats go outside, and all have been vaccinated for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus).

We strongly encourage all new buyers to have their kitten undergo a blood test for FeLV within 48 hours of bringing them home. This proactive step ensures peace of mind regarding your kitten's health and helps detect any potential issues early. Our commitment to the well-being of our kittens means we want you to start your journey with your new pet on the right foot, ensuring a happy and healthy life together.

Ensuring the Best Socialization

Our kittens are hand-raised in our home to ensure they are exceptionally well-socialized. They have the freedom to explore the house under supervision, promoting both physical and social development. This ensures that your new kitten will be confident, well-behaved, and ready to adapt to their new environment. We use large playpens to isolate kittens only if absolutely necessary for their well-being, providing them with a safe space when needed.

Return Policy

At PurrfectlyFold, we understand that circumstances may change, and if you find that you can no longer care for your kitten, we are willing to take the kitten back. However, please note that under our policy, there will be no refund of the purchase price. Our priority is the welfare of our kittens, and we want to ensure they find loving homes, even if that means returning to our cattery.

The PurrfectlyFold Difference: Choosing Ethical Over Easy

When you adopt from PurrfectlyFold, you're not just getting a kitten—you’re gaining a healthy, well-adjusted member of the family who has been bred with care. Our commitment to DNA testing, responsible spaying/neutering, and adherence to TICA’s strict guidelines ensures that every kitten we raise is given the best possible start in life.

Unethical, backyard, and uneducated breeders may seem like an easy, low-cost option, but the long-term risks to your kitten's health and happiness are simply too high. Choose a breeder who puts the well-being of the breed—and your new pet—first. Choose PurrfectlyFold!

Strict Genetic Testing: Health Comes First

At PurrfectlyFold, we believe in the importance of genetic health. Every adult cat in our cattery has undergone comprehensive DNA testing, screening for over 40 genetic diseases. This ensures that we breed only healthy, genetically sound Scottish Fold cats, minimizing the risk of passing hereditary conditions to future generations.

Our Scottish Fold parents carry only one copy of the TRPV4 gene, linked to the development of Osteochondrodysplasia, which significantly reduces the risk of this condition being passed on to their offspring. Additionally, we DNA test all our Scottish Straight cats to ensure they do not carry the TRPV4 gene, providing a 100% guarantee that they will not pass on this disease. By making these careful, responsible breeding choices, we aim to improve the overall health and well-being of our kittens.

We guarantee that our kittens are born from parents tested for numerous diseases, giving you peace of mind that your new family member is healthy. Some of the first 30 diseases we screen for include:
